Some of our 8th grade students kicked off their lived experience with a powerful journey through history and reflection. Day 1 included visits to New Echota Historic Site and the Chief Vann House, a nature trail walk, and reflective journaling as students processed what they were learning. The evening wrapped up with bowling, a group recap of the day, and thoughtful project discussions in the hotel lobby before settling in for the night.

On Day 2, students explored the Funk Heritage Center in Waleska, deepening their understanding of Cherokee history and culture, followed by lunch at Chick‑fil‑A. These experiences brought learning to life—connecting history, reflection, and student voice in meaningful ways.

We’re proud of our students for their curiosity, engagement, and respectful exploration of the stories that shape our world. 💙

We use technology to enrich our students learning experience at Putnam Middle! In Mr. Jaggie's class, scholars are using artificial intelligence to be interactive with history. They are having a conversation with a Holocaust survivor Ai bot. They are then improving their writing by having an AI bot read over their work and provide individual feedback and help improve their writing before Milestones. Using technology in meaningful and ethical ways in valuable in today's world.

2nd Annual Bloom and Thrive Festival
Mrs. Bollen’s first period science class has been learning about radioactive decay and half-life of elements. Students were able to physically apply their knowledge with M&Ms today. First, students rolled 20 M&Ms to see how many landed “M” up and those were the ones that had divided in their half-life and continued this until all M&Ms were eliminated. Second, students counted 60 seconds and ate half of their M&Ms. They then waited 120 seconds (because time continues on) and ate half again because the half-life would continue to cause division and decrease. Students then graphed their information. Fun was had by students being able to learn tangibly and allowed students to enjoy their learning by being able to eat their experiment.

Dear PCMS Parents and Guardians,

I hope this message finds you well. Monday, March 16, 2026, will be a virtual learning day for all Putnam County Middle School students.

On this day, students will be expected to log into their Canvas accounts using their school-issued Chromebooks to access assignments for each of their scheduled class periods. Teachers will post clear instructions and assignments for students to complete.

To ensure a smooth and successful virtual learning experience, we encourage families to verify that students can access their Canvas accounts prior to Monday, March 16. If you anticipate any technical difficulties or require support, please contact your child's teacher before Thursday, March 12, 2026, so concerns can be addressed in advance.

We appreciate your continued partnership in supporting your child's learning. Our goal is to ensure that instruction continues seamlessly while maintaining high expectations for engagement and accountability.

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Thank you for your support of Putnam County Middle School.
