Dear PCMS Parents and Guardians,

I hope this message finds you well. Monday, March 16, 2026, will be a virtual learning day for all Putnam County Middle School students.

On this day, students will be expected to log into their Canvas accounts using their school-issued Chromebooks to access assignments for each of their scheduled class periods. Teachers will post clear instructions and assignments for students to complete.

To ensure a smooth and successful virtual learning experience, we encourage families to verify that students can access their Canvas accounts prior to Monday, March 16. If you anticipate any technical difficulties or require support, please contact your child's teacher before Thursday, March 12, 2026, so concerns can be addressed in advance.

We appreciate your continued partnership in supporting your child's learning. Our goal is to ensure that instruction continues seamlessly while maintaining high expectations for engagement and accountability.

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Thank you for your support of Putnam County Middle School.

🎥✨ Broadcasting Students Learn from YouTuber Dan Larson! ✨🎥

Our Mr. Rakosnik's Broadcasting class had an awesome opportunity today, a virtual meeting with YouTuber Dan Larson! Students got a behind‑the‑scenes look at what it takes to build and maintain a successful digital platform.

Dan shared insights on:

🎬 Content planning & editing

📚 Copyright and using media responsibly

📈 How algorithms work

🔥 Creating engaging content

📆 Consistency and audience trust

Our students asked thoughtful questions and left inspired to level up their own productions. What an incredible chance to learn from someone doing it in the real world!

Big thanks to Dan Larson for spending time with our students! 💙🎤📺

🐰✨ Exciting News from Our Ag Program! ✨🐰
We’re hopping with excitement; our ag class has welcomed three adorable new bunnies! These sweet additions were generously donated by the Macklin family, and we are so grateful for their support of our program.
Our students will be naming the bunnies soon, and they are already learning so much about small animal care, responsibility, and hands‑on agriculture.
They’re so cute… stay tuned for names and more fluffy updates! 💙🌱🐇

Ms. Bollen’s science classes have been learning about protons, neutrons and electrons. Today, scholars were able to apply their knowledge and build Bohr Models using skittles. Scholars were given a certain elements to build with their skittles. This allowed scholars to physically see the things they have been learning in class.

✨ Congratulations to Shamiyah Ellison! ✨

Please join us in celebrating Shamiyah Ellison, 8th grader at PCMS, who represented our school beautifully at the district-level spelling bee in Athens, Georgia this past weekend. Shamiyah attended with her family and PCMS sponsor Mrs. Sills, and we are so proud of her hard work and poise.

Did you know that today’s spelling bees include both spelling and vocabulary? The competition brought some incredibly challenging words—one round even featured “Yiddish,” a Germanic-language term with deep historical roots. It was the kind of word even seasoned adults might pause over!

Shamiyah handled each round with confidence and grace, and she truly represented PCMS with excellence. We are so proud of you, Shamiyah! 💙📚🐝
