Mrs. Harkins’ students recently enjoyed an exciting adventure to Little Tokyo for a hibachi dining experience! As part of their Read 180 curriculum, students have been learning about trying new foods, proper dining etiquette, tipping, and real‑world social skills—and this trip was the perfect way to put that learning into action.
From practicing restaurant manners to experiencing new flavors, students were fully engaged and enthusiastic throughout this memorable outing. It was an incredible hands‑on learning experience that made classroom lessons come alive!

Ms. Beasley's and Mrs. Sills’ class had a wonderful opportunity this morning to visit Ms. Coyte’s classroom and spend time with some furry friends. During this collaborative experience, students were able to engage in hands-on learning by safely holding and interacting with a hamster as well as three bunnies.
This visit provided a meaningful learning experience, as students explored and discussed the different types of bunnies and learned more about dwarf hamsters. It was a great way to encourage curiosity, build connections between classrooms, and create an engaging, memorable learning environment for all students involved.

Congratulations to our April H.E.A.R.T. Award Winners! ❤️
At last night’s Board of Education meeting, we had the honor of recognizing two outstanding members of our PCCSS family — Mrs. Tracy Surmelin, one of our dedicated Facilities Maintenance Specialists, and Mr. Larry Dunn from our Putnam County Primary School Guest Services Department!
These two incredible individuals go above and beyond in their roles each and every day. Whether it’s keeping our schools running smoothly behind the scenes or creating a welcoming environment for everyone who walks through our doors, they truly exemplify what it means to serve with heart. Their commitment, positivity, and willingness to support others make a lasting impact across our district.

PCMS is excited to share that we will be bringing virtual reality headsets to Mrs. Adcock’s social studies classroom to make learning come alive, thanks to grant funding from the Putnam Education Foundation! This grant will allow us to purchase VR headsets and age-appropriate educational software that supports social studies instruction.
These resources will enable students to participate in virtual field trips, explore historical sites, and experience global cultures in an immersive and engaging way. These innovative tools will help bring social studies content to life while increasing student engagement and understanding.
Through virtual experiences exploring ancient civilizations, world capitals, and significant geographic locations, students will connect with history and culture in meaningful and memorable ways.
Thank you, Putnam Education Foundation, for making “Virtual Voyages: Bringing History & Geography to Life” possible!
